Andrea Chen

Andrea Chen (she/her) is a Mental Health Clinician working towards licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts. Her clinical specialities include working with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC issues. She aims to provide a compassionate, client-centered, and intersectional approach to therapy.

Andrea draws from multiple evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), while also tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of her clients. Her work is also informed by feminist, mindfulness, trauma-informed, and weight-neutral perspectives. She approaches therapy with authenticity, warmth, compassion, and a little humor.

Andrea believes strongly in the power of the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for change and prioritizes collaboration, trust, and client autonomy. As a Chinese-American clinician born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Andrea brings a unique perspective of culture and identity to her work and is dedicated to providing culturally-sensitive care. She is passionate about destigmatizing mental health care for folks of all backgrounds.

Andrea holds a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Andrea has worked with individuals across various settings including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care and schools to provide individual, family, and group counseling. Andrea has facilitated specialized groups focused on BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, body image, trauma, and relational issues.

Andrea ultimately hopes to empower her clients to lead values-driven lives and to offer a safe space for growth, healing, and building connection. She welcomes clients at any point in their mental health journey and is ready to be an empathetic and collaborative ally in navigating life’s challenges.
